What Is an 8x4 Dump Truck?

The designation 8x4 — also called a 12-wheeler dump truck — describes the wheel formula: 8 wheels total on 4 axles, with 4 of those wheels driven. In practice the layout is:

• Axle 1 & 2 (front) — twin steering axles, also called a tandem steer. Both turn together, which is why an 8x4 tracks cleanly even at full payload.

Chinese trucks are manufactured left-hand drive (LHD) as standard. Many of our markets — South Africa, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia — drive on the left and require right-hand drive (RHD) vehicles.

Sigma converts LHD units to RHD in-house at our facility before shipping. The conversion covers:

After conversion every truck is road-tested before container loading. We do not sub-contract the conversion to third parties.

Shipping is CIF (Cost, Insurance, Freight) to your destination port.
